Let's raise money for The American Heart Association! This year, I joined the Young Professional Board for AHA Detroit because the vital research and education provided by AHA has directly affected me and my family. Five years ago, my father who is a non-smoker, active & a healthy eater had a massive heart attack. Doctors call it the "widow maker" due to the low chance of survival for this type of heart attack. He was rushed too the hospital in time for doctors to perform open heart surgery and found that all of his arteries to his heart were blocked. They were able to save him and had a long road of recovery. Without the resources, research and education brought by AHA and their core mission, I truly believe I would have lost my father at the age of 54.
