The American Heart Association has been working to save and improve lives from heart disease and stroke for almost a century thanks to the impact of dedicated medical professionals and community members. When championed by a passionate and dedicated individual, the AHA’s mission to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives is achieved through improved standards of care, educational and community outreach programs and prevention education leading to more lives saved in our community. The association would like to honor these impactful individuals at the Heart of Detroit. COEUR D’OR AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE
The Coeur D’Or (Heart of Gold) Award for Excellence is given to an individual, who through their extensive professional career and accomplishments, has made a significant impact in the world of cardiovascular disease and stroke.

Criteria for Selection
The recipient is an exemplary health-care professional who is involved in the field of cardiovascular disease. They demonstrated decades of energetic support and guidance to the American Heart Association and its mission to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives. Their work has affected change in individual lives and on a larger scale through innovation of new treatment approaches, implementation of new policy, system changes, advocacy, or other broader impacts.


COR VITAE AWARD FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE
The Cor Vitae (Heart of Life) Award for Community Service is given to an individual who, through tireless dedication to their community, demonstrates love and caring for their fellow man; who, through their giving and support, enhances the quality of life for many; and who, through their generosity, has played a significant role in advancing the mission of the AHA.

Criteria for Selection
The recipient should be a prominent and respected leader in the community who has provided significant contributions to the betterment of the Southeast Michigan community.
